The Clean Energy Improvement Program offers Albertans a new way to finance energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy upgrades. The programs financing is tied to your regular property tax bill, so your payments are made directly to your municipality.

Pre-Qualification
Ensure you and your property meet the basic eligibility requirements before applying to the program.
Energuide Evaluation
This professional assessment provides a detailed report of your Alberta home's current energy performance to identify improvements.
Project Application
Choose a Qualified Contractor from our the CEIP directory (Orizon Energy) and begin planning your project.
Agreements
After your Project Application is reviewed and approved, you'll move on to the agreement stage, outlining your terms of participation.
Project Installation
Once the agreements are signed, upgrade installation on your Alberta home with your Qualified Contractor can begin.
Upgrade Completion
As your improvements are completed, submit the required Upgrade Completion Forms to Alberta Municipalities.
Post-Project Evaluation
After all your energy upgrades are installed, schedule a post-project EnerGuide evaluation, to assess energy improvement performance.
Repayment
You'll repay the project costs through your property tax bill, according to the outlined terms in your Clean Energy Improvement Agreement.

Direct Solar Rebates/Grants in Alberta
There are a selection of direct rebates and grants available for installing solar in Alberta. While CEIP is currently the only major financing incentive available for Alberta Homeowners there are a few active programs that can help make solar more affordable for you depending on where you are located in Alberta.
Free Alberta Solar QuoteThe Solar Incentive Program is a post-install rebate program, with the rebate amount based on the size of the solar system installed.
The town provides residential property owners with a rebate of $450/kilowatt (kW) of installed solar capacity, to a maximum of 20 kW ($9,000 maximum rebate).
Commercial properties are eligible for a rebate of $750/kilowatt (kW) of installed solar capacity, to a maximum of 20kW ($15,000 maximum rebate).
Buildings represent a large share of the community's greenhouse gas emissions in Banff due to the cold climate and relatively old housing stock. The high energy consumption of many homes also results in high utility costs for homeowners.
The Deep Retrofit Program incentivizes energy savings independant of the type of upgrade. Instead of receiving a rebate on specific upgrades or purchases, the rebate amount depends only on the calculated annual energy savings of the project. This approach acknowledges that buildings throughout the community can be very different and will allow residents to choose the most cost-effective ways of improving their energy efficiency.
20 Incentives of $1,250 are available annually to support the installation of a residential rooftop solar system for Canmore homeowners.
This applys to residential homes:
• The solar system size must be a minimum of 3kW.
• The incentive is not retroactive for existing systems.
• Installation and electrical inspections must be completed by Dec. 15.
The Solar Electric Incentive Program offers rebates to residential utility customers to purchase and install solar PV systems on their homes. One of the best solar spots in Canada is in Alberta. Medicine hat enjoys 330 days of sunshine each year.
Rebate values are based on the size (watts DC) of the installed system.
$0.20 per nominal Direct Current (DC) watt ($200 per kilowatt DC)
Maximum Rebate: $1,000
Eligibility Criteria:
• A system size review is required.
• Solar PV systems must be designed and installed by a qualified installer.
• All components must be new.
